Exhibition In the wild I love Vistula is a result of last year's edition of FLOW/PRZEPŁYW project. FLOW is a mobile artistic residence onboard Galaru Solny, organized by Agnieszka Brzeżańska and Ewa Ciepielewska alongside invited artists. Outdoor, transdiciplinary creative activities take place on the Vistula river and other places of flowing. The river becomes a starting point for joint being and actions of artists, curators and social activists so that without predetermined results and the need to product objects, the idea of art is refreshed as an experiment.
Inauguration of FLOW/PRZEPŁYW activities took place in June 2016 in Gdańsk, in cooperation with Gdańsk City Gallery as the all day FLOW Motława event, which had the second opening also in 2017. This is the place where the FLOW cruise begins every year. During almost two months of flow onboard Galaru Solny, a few dozen people were guests who took part in outdoor open air events, happenings (including the finissage of the exhibition Syrena with your deceitful coat of arms, MSN Warsaw, 2017) and creative exchange.
There are works featured on exhibition of artists taking part in last year's project related to, among other things, stay on the boat, the Vistula ecosystem, or motives and symbols of nature. Duo Małpeczki (Maria Toboła, Maria Kozłowska) will perform during the vernissage and they will become masters of ceremony, and Małgorzata Nierodzińska with her performance Kolekcjonerka przytuleń (Hugs collector).
The exhibition will close on 6th of July with a performative evening The Final poll after which it will sail on Vistula's waters.
The river is a living, self-organizing being,.. It does nothing, and nothing is undone … * It requires tuning in. Vistula is a complex being, organism, system, world. Earth's blood vessel. Existance of the river depends on alluvial forests and underwater stretches, but also beavers, fish, psammon. Vistula and all its self-reliant river organisms* need freedom. Every year Agnieszka Brzeżańska and Ewa Ciepielewska spend few months on the river. Wooden boat becomes their floating home, where they invite other people willing to listen to what the river says. Just like helmsmen ''read” water, to be able to swim efficiently, artists absorb all signs from environment, that allow them experience the river in full. I am the river and the river is me* - Brzeżańska and Ciepielewska say. Artists invited by the duo become a community with a river, water, fish, birds, wind, plants, microorganisms, minerals, changing current, psammon... They choose flow, which is a free and full of affirmation way of spending time with people and other living beings. Dense network of river worlds is materiality, spirituality, energy of water, air, currents. The logic behind these relations is movement, becoming a flow. There is no place for concept of resources and capital in this world. River is not a merchandise or water highway. It does not need dams, to product more. Artists love Vistula in the wild.*
