“What Can the Mind Conceive” was a workshop addressed to children aged 3 to 15 and their parents.
“During my work I have closely observed how children view emotions and whether they understand what is happening to them when they experience sadness, happiness or anger. Are they able to tell the difference between particular emotional states and name them? During my workshops, pairs of opposite – good and bad – emotions prepared by me, were illustrated by children. Images of abstract concepts seen through child’s eyes were created. My work is a kind of research testing whether children view emotions similarly to their peers and whether emotions can take on some visual shape. I wonder what remains in our memory, and whether the shape of good might differ somehow from the shape of evil”.
How can you check what the mind can conceive?
1) Draw a card with a pair of emotions.
2) Read it and try to visualise what they might look like.
3) Draw them and sign them.
4) Have a look at works of others and try to analyse them.
