"Wide Boy" Expedition from Brussels to Moscow
On Thursday, 8 July 2010 two artists Lauren von Gogh and Anne Schiffer visited Gunter Grass Gallery in Gdansk. They are travelling through Europe ( from Brussels to Moscow) meeting artists, writers, curators, critics. discussing. Their intention along this journey is to make and collect objects referencing relevant daily interactions and intricacies of each particular place in relation to recent history of the countries in this region. Each stop will focus on interventions and performances relating specifically to the various identities of the nations ruled centrally by Moscow for decades. Their "collection" will be shown at "Qui Vive?" Moscow International Biennale for Young Arts" on 31 July 2010.

Debate about art and a concert by Bund Band

Friday, 9 April 2010, 6 p.m., Günter Grass Gallery in Gdańsk ( corner of Szeroka and Grobla I str.)
We invite artists, journalists, art teachers, art students and everyone interested in contemporary art to take part in a debate titled ”What art do we want?”. The debate will be moderated by Przemysław Gulda ( journalist, Gazeta Wyborcza Trójmiasto).
After the debate, at 7.30 p.m. a concert by BUND BAND will start. BUND BAND are: Wojtek Mazolewski ( base guitar/vocal), Michał Gos ( drums), Maciek Obara ( sax), Marek Pospieszalski ( sax) and Oskar Torok ( drums/trumpet). The concert will be dedicated to Marek Edelman. It is inspired by the jewish songs of Bund and songs from the uprising at the Warsaw Ghetto.

Jazz concert: Penn/Lemańczyk/Grzywacz

A jazz concert by Clarence Penn (drums), Piotr Lemańczyk (double-bass) and Maciej Grzywacz (guitar) will take place on Saturday, 20 February at 7 p.m. in Gdansk Gallery of Günter Grass (4g).
Clarence Penn is one of the best drummers in the world. He cooperated with the biggest jazz musicians. Penn recorded three solo albums and a lot of albums with other artists. Polish musicians invited him for concerts on 17-24 February 2010 in jazz clubs throughout Poland ( and in 4g!). Artists will present a set made out of various original pieces that were created especially for this occasion.
The admission to the concert is free!
